    Unanswered: Toad Data Point on Access

    Hi all,

    Trying out Toad Data Point on a test database that shipped with TDP.

    I keep getting Missing operator in query expression error on sql below.
    Cant figure out why. Thoughts?

    Code:
    SELECT  r.REGION_NAME
    	, SUM(o.AMOUNT_BILLED) as "Amount"
    FROM Region r
    inner join ADDRESS a
      ON r.REGION_ID = a.REGION_ID
     inner join ORDERS o
      ON o.BILLING_ADDRESS_ID = a.ADDRESS_ID
      and o.SHIPPING_ADDRESS_ID = a.ADDRESS_ID
    GROUP BY r.REGION_NAME;

    Hi

    I am by no means certain of any I=of this (never heard of TOAD - led a sheltered life), but may be you need some brackets
    Code:
    SELECT  r.REGION_NAME	, SUM(o.AMOUNT_BILLED) as "Amount"
    FROM (Region r inner join ADDRESS a  ON r.REGION_ID = a.REGION_ID)
    inner join ORDERS o ON o.BILLING_ADDRESS_ID = a.ADDRESS_ID  and o.SHIPPING_ADDRESS_ID = a.ADDRESS_ID
    GROUP BY r.REGION_NAME;
    Then again maybe not!

    IIRC there is something odd (non standard) about Access's Join syntax
    I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton

    Thanks,

    I was reviewing some Oracle queries that definitely work and I noticed that the ON clauses were bracketed (), so I'll try the same on the sample Access db I am working with.

    @MTB,

    Toad Data Point is a great tool for working with a wide variety of data sources. You might grab a free version of Toad for MySQL and MySQL so you can check it out.
