    Hi All,

We want to connect SQL server from Unix.

Can anyone please provide the command or the alternative for the same as we have sqlplus command to connect to oracle from Unix.

    Thanks,

There are no Microsoft (or UNIX) supplied utilities that you can use to run interactive or ad-hoc queries on a SQL Server instance from a UNIX (or Linux) machine. There are libraries for various languages that will allow programs to connect to and query/update SQL Server databases (JDBC for Java, ODBC for most other things, DBI for PERL, etc.).

FreeTDS is my preferred choice, but there are lots of options at http://www.sommarskog.se/MSSQL/unix.html

I suspect that Microsoft will be providing native support for Microsoft SQL Server on Unix/Linux within a year, but I can't positively confirm that yet.
