Unanswered: no locks stripped when querying against linked databases?

It seems I ran into this but I wanted to bounce this up against the community to validate.

I've seemed to find mix signals so........ I think it might depend on the version of the server....

I'm not sure that I follw your question. A Linked Server join takes locks on the local objects (tables/views/etc) and the data provider (OLEDB, ADO, ODBC, etc.) will take the locks that it can on the foreign data source.

    What exactly are you asking?

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
