Unanswered: Basic questions for MS SQL 2008 Express

    Hello friends,

I just installed a MS SQL 2008 Express Server.

How can I see now which databases i have. There should be some, because on top of the database the application created some of them (as written in the log) and now i now only able to find them on the file layer. But I would like to get an output from MS SQL itself.

Is it enough to save the files of the databases or do you recommend to backup this databases by MS - SQL - how can i do this?

I looked up the internet for a solution but i didn’t find anything about it.

So i hope to get some help here.

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards,

You should be able to download the SQL Management Studio (SQL 2014 version is fully backward compatible), and install that. This will give you a GUI to get started with.

Backing up the databases should be done via a SQL backup, and not a file copy. Certain files need to be in sync with each other, or they can not be restored.
