    Unanswered: Possible or not to the way

    Hi,
    MYSQL DB is residing on one Red hat Linux server, which is one with one reachable IP like

    113.255 ...

    and I see that the server is listening on 3306 port like

    Is it possible to connect to such MYSQL DB on port 3306 using IP "113.255 ..." from anywhere?

    yes, assuming that:-
    the IP address is properly registered on the DNS system so clients external (to your network) can get the identity / connection to the server
    the server is configured correctly for user account and privileges. Ive alwasy found MySQL user account admin / setup tricky to implemenjt and be co9nfident there are no backdoors to the server
    there are no other services such as a firewall hiding the server from public view (bear in mind those firewalls could be on the server, on the gateway to your network and or somewhere between the server and prospective clients
    I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
