Unanswered: Creating primary IDs for unique combinations
Hello everyone, I am brand new to this forum. And relatively new to working with databases and Access.
I am running into an issue where I have to process origin point and end point of multiple records in the form of:
OriginCity OriginZip DestinationCity Destinationzip
I ran a simple query to figure out what where the unique lanes we had on this master data and assigned each of them a unique "Lane_id". My intent was to bring back that lane ID to my original master data so I could know to which lane ids applied to each record. But when I do that It turns out that some records are missing zip codes. So while in my unique lane table these lanes with missing zip codes have been assigned a lane_id. In the master table those same lanes do not get assigned the corresponding id after running the update query. Any ideas on how to assign those to the records with some of the missing elements?
