    Unanswered: SubString extract query

I have a join between two tables where one table they have varchar(25) with the uniqueID and an example of a unique_ID 3939393939. The joined table is a
varchar(255) with a unique_ID of "3939393939". I am unable to join on these items because of the quotes. I tried this:

    ON SUBSTRING(A.UNIQUEID,'"','') = C.UNIQUE_ID

You should really look up the syntax of substr, as that is no where close to how to use it. Besides, I think you might want to use replace or translate as a better option. As for the syntax, you can use google/bing/yahoo or any other search engine as well as anyone else.

Your choices would be between updating the data in the garbage column (preferable), or join using the REPLACE function (which would invalidate any indexes).
