    Unanswered: Family data base

    I am building a database that will hold families. How can I create a form to make wife and children appear under their father. Or better still, how do I register children under their parents. I still want the children yo be part of the Total number in the data base. In a simpler way, I want to have a family list where the children will appear under there parents and a second list that will capture everybody irrespective of their families. Pls help. Thanks

    the way i didit

    have a Table call Family

    Family
    ====
    FamilyID PK
    FatherID
    MotherID
    DOB
    Place
    ...
    ...

    now what i did

    My
    FamilyID = 1

    then in my son

    FamilyID = 3
    and the FatherID = 1
    and the MotherID = 2

    so when my son has a Child

    there ID could be 10
    and the FatherID = 3
    and the MotherID = 12

    the reason I did it this way you can work out Haft brothers / sister

    this The way I did it works for me.
    hope this help

    See clear as mud

    How to join two Tables of the same field in a query

    I have two tables, family table and dependant table. Family table is meant to capture the head of the family say the father or mother as the case may be. The dependant table is meant to capture the children and rest of family members. I have made a relationship between the two tables so that the family table can show me all family members. That worked. My problem is that the two tables have thesame fields because same info is needed for everyone. So how do I join the two tables to get the total number in the database? Is there any query criteria? Tanks
