    Unanswered: Encoding problem

    Dear Friends,

I have a database with encoding SQL_ASCII. I've inserted a lot of data extracted from a database with encoding UTF8. When I use pgAdmin III to view this data, the text fields are shown with the accents in the words, but when I use Npgsql .NET Data Provider to read data, the text fields are returned with a '?' character in place of the accented characters. When I use my .NET application with a WPF window to insert new rows or update old rows, the text fields are inserted with the accents, and this rows are read afterwards correctly. I need to write a code to read each row from the UTF8 database and insert it in the SQL_ASCII database but I don't know how to make the correct convertion. I have tryed with several encodings but none worked.

Does somebody knows how to solve this problem?

    Thanks for any help,

    Danilo da Silva
