    Unanswered: pgsql and Oracle .dmp database

    Hi freinds,

    I am top new in pgsql

    I have oracle databases (.dmp files) stored in my machine (not in a server).

    I installed postgreesql

    how can i process to import my .dmp files to mysql??and using what tool of pgSQL software????

    I want a full process to find a solution

    Short answer: you can't

    Oracle's dump file format is a proprietary (binary) format that can only be read and processed by the Oracle tools.

    You need to import the dump file into an Oracle database, export the data into e.g. CSV files and the import them into Postgres using e.g. the COPY command

    You can also use tools like ora2pg to automate this: http://ora2pg.darold.net/

    I find a pgsql command pg_dump, it do what this command?can't be useful?

    pg_dump is a command line tool to create a dump from a Postgres database.

    You can not use it to import an Oracle dump.
