I see a lot of people from a business side (versus the tech side) tend to role into "analyst" positions doing reports and well, I am not really sure. I see a lot of them trying to cut their teeth on SQL or some kind of dialect and I wonder specifically what their job actually involves. If I were to go apply for a business reporting analyst position, what would they expect me to know. I'm a "DBA" (very insulting and lose interpretation) and mainly run ad-hoc updates on the fly and keep disks from filling up so I'm slightly fascinated by what this role actually does and is expect to know in regards to SQL / Databases. Kind of like when someone says, "I'm a consultant". I'm thinking; "WTF does that mean".
