Unanswered: Clustering across a geographical location

    Hello,

I'm fairly new to MSSQL, but I was wondering...

    I want 2 nodes

One in location A, one in Location B (about 9 miles apart over a 20Mb pipe).

Can I set up a cluster between them? Do they have to have shared storage or does MSSQL have a way to mirror/replicate over?

If anyone else has a similar setup I would greatly appreciate your advise.

There isn't enough information for me to give a concrete answer, but log shipping will definitely work, mirroring will usually work, and Availability Groups might or might not work.

For more information on these technologies in SQL 2016, see:

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
