Answered: Database Connectivity Issue : failure

    Hi,

I've been facing a connectivity issue. OS : AIX. The dbm cfg SVCENAME parameter, etc/services, etc/hosts everything looks good. DB2COMM variable is set to TCPIP. The database user id and password is correct. I can connect to the database on the server directly.

However, when tried to connect to the database from data studio or any other client, getting the below error message.

SQL1639N A connection attempt has failed and generated an SQLException.
    SQLSTATE: 08001

Db2diag log shows the warning message as below.

Password validation for user db2admin failed with rc = -2146498587

Could someone help on this ?

    Regards,
    Vino

"Somebody played with permissions (if it's a root installation).
    Must be:
    -rwsr-sr-x 1 root db2iadm1

It's better to run db2iupdt against the instance even such changes will help.

If it's non-root installation, then run db2rfe utility to allow OS authentication."

Thank you Mark. Its a root installation. I'll run db2iupdt and let you know how it goes.
