Unanswered: Upgrading to SQL Server Express 2016 from 2014
I am currently running SQL Server Express 2014 and SSMS 2014. I see that the 2016 versions are available. Do I go ahead and install the new versions, or is there a procedure to uninstall the 2014 versions, to then install 2016?
The two of them will happily co-exist on your machine, but each of them will eat up resources, and of course, you may get confused between the two at some point. This is about the only time that having more options is actually bad. The simplest thing to do would be to disable the service for the 2014 Express instance, so you can start it back up, in case you find you missed something. That way, it only takes up diskspace.
