    Unanswered: Informix Instance not starting...

When I tried to start the informix instance in Linux using oninit, it says

WARNING: server initialization failed, or possibly timed out (if -w was used).
Check the message log, online.log, for errors.

    Manohar,

you want to start Informix using Unix huge pages, and your system does not have enough huge pages to fit in.
This will happen if you set the onconfig parameter RESIDENT to a non zero value.
If you do not want to use huge pages, set RESIDENT to 0
    else:
Look at Ben's post, very well done:
    https://informixdba.wordpress.com/20...08/huge-pages/

the following log messages tell you that the segments are taken/locked but cannot be taken by informix.
run 'onclean' and the segments will be cleaned.

    Eric
