Unanswered: Query runs fast when criteria is set, runs slow when joined with local table
I have a query that runs quickly (less than a second) when criteria is provided. However, instead of using criteria, I did an inner join to another query (that utilizes grouping). This slowed it down significantly and I thought it was because I'm using grouping. So instead, I changed the query with grouping to a make table and then on the second query I joined to the fields on the local table. This, however didn't seem to help. I'm thinking the problem is that referencing a local table is causing the query to run locally on my machine and not on the server. I'd appreciate any advice on how to make this run faster. I have to think this is a pretty common occurrence. Thanks!
