    Unanswered: Sequence value skipped to a increment in lakhs

    Hi,
    This is regarding the problem we faced in PostrgreSql where the sequence value got skipped to a value having a difference in lakhs causing the table to be inaccesiible.This problem occurred in only few of the tables which had sequences only.Can anyone suggest regarding this what could be the problem and how to avoid it?

    There is no problem. A sequence is expected to skip values. There is nothing wrong with that.

    If you rely on a gapless numbering, then a sequence is the wrong choice.
