Unanswered: Use form to update table while pulling information from complex query

    Hi guys,

I would like to use a form to straightforward update a field of a table. This table is feeding a complex query (multiple joins with other tables). Let's assume for now the query only pulls this one field from the table.
In the form itself, I would like to not only allow the users to update the table but also display (read only) the value of field which it has right now, before editing.

I'm aware that this is a perfect circular reference, so the update part should only take part once a button is hit.

Right now, I'm not even getting that far because as soon as I add the query to the form, Access won't allow me to edit data in the table anymore.

Please see attached illustration for a better understanding of the issue.

    Thank you!

you dont add data to a complex query.
you add to the individual tables using keys form the various tables.
