    Unanswered: Row Compression version question

    Hi All,

Per IBM, row compression is only available in DB2 Advanced Workgroup and DB2 Advanced Enterprise. I'm running DB2 Enterprise Server Edition 10.5 Fix Pack 8 and row compression seems to be working fine. To verify, I created a new database and imported over 1 million records into a table that was created using the following attributes. The table was dropped and recreated after each pass.
    ......................................Table size
    COMPRESS NO..................1,123,840
    COMPRESS YES...................164,352
    COMPRESS YES ADAPTIVE... 164,352
    COMPRESS YES STATIC....... 371,200

    Table Size calculation: Data_Object_P_Size + Index_Object_P_Size + Long_Object_P_Size + Lob_Object_P_Size + Xml_Object_P_Size

This looks like compression is working. Can anyone explain?

    Thanks

Show the output of db2licm -l for the DB2-instance.
For some features , DB2 may complain if they are unlicensed (check the db2diag and the notification log), and any license-check compliance tooling or audit will find it.

    db2licm -l
Product name: "DB2 Enterprise Server Edition"
    Product identifier: "db2ese"
    Version information: "10.5"

I also checked the sqllib/db2dump directory and found no complaints about compression.
    grep -il compres *

    Hi,

The compliance report can be generated by the following command:
    db2licm -g report.txt

What's the contents of this report?
    Regards,
    Mark.
