    Question Unanswered: SQL1035N :( on connection attempt to database

    Hello guys, I have this DB2 (10.5.0.8) which is giving me no less then hell.
    I restarted the whole machine that is hosting it (SLES 12 SP1).
    After the machine is started again, before doing anything else, I do a db2start and try to connect to my database:
    db2 connect to MYDATAB
    What I get:
    SQL1035N The operation failed because the specified database cannot be
    connected to in the mode requested. SQLSTATE=57019

    I see this is a common problem but all the questions I could dig out in google were about "When restoring DB" or "when dropping DB".
    My problem is a lot before that, I can't even connect to DB!

    I can't use the available advice (deactivate database, quiesce database immediate force connections, connect reset...) because I can't
    even get a connection (deactivate database requires the DB alias).

    db2 => deactivate datavase MYDATAB
    SQL0104N An unexpected token "datavase" was found following "DEACTIVATE".
    Expected tokens may include: "DATABASE". SQLSTATE=42601
    db2 => deactivate database MYDATAB
    SQL1035N The operation failed because the specified database cannot be
    connected to in the mode requested. SQLSTATE=57019
    db2 => quiesce database immediate force connections
    SQL1024N A database connection does not exist. SQLSTATE=08003
    db2 => connect reset
    SQL1024N A database connection does not exist. SQLSTATE=08003

    When I do 'force application all' I get something to work but it results in nothing:
    db2 => force application all
    DB20000I The FORCE APPLICATION command completed successfully.
    DB21024I This command is asynchronous and may not be effective immediately.

    db2 =>
    db2 => connect to MYDATAB
    SQL1035N The operation failed because the specified database cannot be
    connected to in the mode requested. SQLSTATE=57019

    Any ideas?

    Are you giving the whole story? Did you (or someone else) previously start a restore or a rollforward, or a quiesce on the database or the DB2-instance?
    Post the relevant content from the db2diag and admin notification log , it may give more information about what DB2 thinks had been happening.
    Also check output of the db2pd -utilities comand, and related options, see docs for details.

    Also, try database.

    Hello,

    Attach here the records from db2diag.log appearing there after such an attempt to connect/activate the database.
    Regards,
    Mark.

    Hi, I tried doing that but it said "thank you for your post, it is being reviewed by an admin".
    I think it's the attachment that is flagging my post and not allowing automatic publishing :/

    Instead of using attachment, try filtering only the entries that are LEVEL: Error and LEVEL: Severe or LEVEL: Critical - you might be able to paste them into the text reply without using attachment
