Unanswered: Convert SQL_ASCII database backup into UTF-8

    Hi Guys ,

I am planning to convert my Database encoding SQL_ASCII to UTF-8 .

I have took the database backup through pg_dump . Total size of database backup is 157 GB and then I am trying to convert this backup into UTF-8 through below command :

    iconv SQL_ASCII file -f ISO-8859-1 -t UTF-8 > UTF-8.sql

It give me following error :

iconv: cannot open input file : File too large

Please help me to convert this file into UTF-8 or some other method .

You don't need to convert it.

Create the new database with UTF-8 and simply run the dump file through psql. Postgres will take care of the conversion
I will not read nor answer questions where the SQL code is messy and not formatted properly using [code] tags: http://www.dbforums.com/misc.php?do=bbcode#code
