Unanswered: replicate DB2 with Oracle and visecersa

    Hi,

I have a requirement to use DB2 replicator to replicate a set of table to Oracle and vice versa. Is this possible with DB2 replicator and how.

    Thanks in advance !

    Regards,
    Suvankar

    (second attempt to answer)

The Db2 replication product does have a capture and apply which runs on Oracle to allow Db2 --> Oracle and Oracle --> Db2. However, bi-directional or peer-to-peer coping is not supported. The replication reference has two chapters describing how replication with Oracle as a source or target.

    Best regards,
    Jim

you could use federation for oracle tables as nicknames
    replicate from db2 to ora-nicknames
ora to db2 replication is also supported
you could add an additional column to some tables and fill the origin (like db2-ora) to avoid looping

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
