    Unanswered: building expression:

I’ve a drop-down field called ClosedReason with values 1,2 and 3. I’d like to add a description to represent 1,2 and 3 so that my query/report display the description instead of numeric values.

1,2 and 3 should represent as follows:
    1. Referred
    2. closed on site
    3. closed off site

I tried the following, but got an error.

ClosedReasonText: Choose ([ClosedReason], “Referred”, “closed on site”, “closed off site”)

"The expression you entered has an invalid. (dot) or ! operator or invalid parentheses…"

    Any ideas?

    TIA

    Regards,

    everything should be table driven,
    make a table tCloseCodes:

    1, Referred
    2, Closed on Site
    3, Closed off Site

in the cboBox, set the source to this table
    set it for 2 columns,
    set columnwidths = .5;1
    bound col = 1

then the user can see both values.
    OR
    you can set col 1 width= 0
and the user will only see the text choices.

    ranman256, thanks.

It’s working and I got the drop-down to display numeric value along with descriptions.

    Just a follow-up questing (OP).

If I have a field called [ClosedReasons] with values 1,2 and 3. Let’s say I want display the following text in query/report (instead of numeric values)

Referred, Closed on site, and closed off site
What will be the correct syntax for creating expression in query and/or report level?

    My attempt (below) produced error:

ClosedReasonText: Choose ([ClosedReason], “Referred”, “closed on site”, “closed off site”)

"The expression you entered has an invalid. (dot) or ! operator or invalid parentheses…"

    TIA

    Regards,
