I am trying to load Oracle 7.3 on Windows 200 server. I am getting protocol adapter error.

Try to clean up your listener.ora, remove some unused ADDRESS information.
I think the address information is too long, I've had that once.

I have tried doing this, but the listener of oracle is stoping immediately after showing the status started.

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Network

Do you have any other ver of Oracle already on that Server ? If you dont have and you still have some oracle related variable settings in regiesty..do clean it up, restart the machine and start the installation.
If you already have let me know what ver is installed and what all oracle services have been started ?

I hope you are aware that you are trying to run an ancient version of Oracle on a relatively new OS. I suspect the interface between SQLNet and NT networking is causing the problemes.

My suggestion would be to move to Oracle 8i (8.1.7) as this version is at least certified to run on W2k.
