I am installing a vendor application onto a W2K machine that is built on SQL Server 6.5 SP5a. The SQL 6.5 client base installation runs smoothly with the standard warning message that 6.5 is not compatible with W2k. 6.5 is after you install SP5a, which I do and it seems to install smoothly.

The problem starts when I start WinDBVer to set the client to TCP/IP, it fails with an Unable to Initialize (0xC0000005) message. This same setup works on other W2K machines and rebuilding this machine from the ground up is not an option. This vendor app is going to be a client on a server machine.

Any ideas as to what could be wrong?
