Red face Unanswered: SQLServer2000 and JDBC 2.0

Hi all! This looks like the place I've been looking for...

I am currently running SQL2000 on a seperate server box. I am trying to simply make a connection to a DB I have made from another computer through JDBC.

Everytime I try to connect I get the following SQLServer JDBC error:
"Login failed for user 'mountie'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection."

When creating a new database user:
    Action->New Database User->picked<new>
I picked my windows account name from the list
    I am using windows authentication.
Picked the DB I wanted, and left the language as default.
    clicked OK
selected my newly created login name
changed my user name to mountie rather than DOMAIN\mountie
    clicked db_owner (public already selected)
    clicked OK

I've tried to be as accurate with the information I've supplied, sorry if it seems pretty basic... Am I missing something here?

    Thanks!

I didn't think you could use Windows authentication with JDBC driver. I thought that you had to use SQL (i.e., user, password) authentication.

BTW - which jdbc driver are you using?

Thanks very much for your reply Brassrat. I'll give it a shot!

I'm using the latest type 4 JDBC driver from MS. I think it is still a beta, but it seems to be fine...

    Thanks again
