I need to take data in one table and write it to another table in the same db. The original table is updated through a form. Each time an update occurs I want to write the oldd ata and new data to a new table to track the updates. Any help would be greatly appreciated. i'vr been attemping to use VBA to accomplish this, however i am definitly open to suggestions.

It seems to me, Louis, that you're doing a lot of extra work just to track updates. You could use an after update trigger or a stored procedure or simply keep tract of updates in an ops log. Ho0wever, a simpler and cleaner method would be to simply time stamp each entry.

    Let's see how this would work. . . .

    select clientAAA
    if client NOT FOUND then

    enter data
    begin transaction
insert into table all data for clientAAA with timeStamp
    commit transaction

    elseif clientAAA FOUND then

display all data for LATEST ENTRY for clientAAA
    if modified, then
    begin transaction
insert into table all data for client AAA with timeStamp
    commit transaction
    endif

    endif

NOTE: use the same function/procedure to add AND update records

    Good Luck!
