    Unanswered: join in different datbases db2

    We have been os390 db2 shop for yaers and have just started
    usind db2udb7. Can tables be joined in different databases. If not
    what is the difference between instance and database. Also are
    there any good books detailing the difference between db2os30 and db2udb

    Yes It is possible with the federated database set up .
    Are you talking about a program or stored program.?

    We had thought fderated was the answer .Does anyone have any
    Documentation on how they set it up on the Linux platform. Do you use
    DB2connect or what ? We weren't considering stored procedures right now we were thinking of using Perl.

    Yes you can do it but there is a performance hit. In general, here, we use schemas to logically partition data and have one database per server.
