    Unanswered: Oracle on FreeBSD

Does anyone know the best version of Oracle (8.1.X or 9) and FreeBSD to be running together?

None of them. Oracle does not run on any of the BSD's. It's one of the few platforms that is not supported. I'm gussing that one of the reasons is probably the poor SMP support under BSD.

    Hi Paul,
I don't really need it supported by Oracle as I only wish to run an Oracle client on FreeBSD. I am fairly confident that if I can install the client that it should run fine with no worries.
Just wondering if there is a version combination that works well together.

    Cheers,
    Breen.

    Thumbs up

If you really want to do that, then start with reading the Oracle Installation Guide on FreeBSD, first. It will save you time to figure out many of the obstacles.

It's possible, so let's us know how it goes :-)))

    Hope that helps,
