I have to establish a link between SQL server 2000 and the ORACLE server.I went to the SQL Enterprise Manager and created a linked server to the ORACLE by giving "Microsoft OLE DB Provider For Oracle" as the provider name and datasource as the ORACLE DSN name and "MSDAORA.1" as the provider string. Now i clicked the tables link it displays the following error message.
"Error 7399: OLE DB Provider 'MSDAORA' reported an error."
I went and searched the Microsoft site for this error message.what they say is i should have ORACLE client installed on the SQL server machine.
In my case both ORACLE 8.1.6 server(Client will be automatically installed.) and SQL server lies on the same NT server. Now I dont know why this error is coming.
Please Reply ASAP.
Thanks in advance
