Unanswered: Restoring to an existing database

    Hi,
I'm Restoring a database image to an existing database, it is asking throwing a warning,"The target database will be overwritten by the backup version. ".
I'm calling this restore using API from my program and i would like to continue with this overwrite so that the image is restored. Is there any way of doing it? I tried with "NOINTERRUPT" option, but the same warning appears and the function is coming out without restoring.

    How to handle this?
    Thanks,
    Arun.

Hello Arun, have you tried the 'REPLACE EXISTING' option in the restore command?

    Regards,

    Hi Noel,
My scenario is, i'm calling the restore API from my program and not using CLP. Is there anyway of specifying the REPLACE EXISTING or its equivalent in the API, "sqlurestore"?

    Thanks,
    arun.

Also look into the "WITHOUT PROMPTING" option. It works from the command line, haven't used it at the app. level.
