    being running 7.3 under RH5-RH7

    in my /opt/informix/etc/onconfig.kkk:

    ROOTNAME rootdbs # Root dbspace name
    ROOTPATH /dev/rootdbs # Path for device containing ROOTOFFSET 0 # Offset of root dbspace into device
    ROOTSIZE 522000 # Size of root dbspace (Kbytes)

    in /dev:

    /dev/rootdbs -> /dev/sda10

    /dev/sda10 is simply a regular raw partition.
