Question Unanswered: SQL Server tempdb file size

I have read in many places that the tempdb is recreated when SQL server is restarted. However, I am curious as to how the tempdb uses storage area. If a max filesize is set, does tempdb overwrite the storage allocation when max size is reached?

My tempdb is about 4gb and growing. I'd love to hear how SQL DBAs handle their tempdb.

    Thanks so much!

This is not a good solution but I think you can try to move it into larger disk.
This is the sintax to move tempdb database

    ---------------------------------------
    use master
    go
Alter database tempdb modify file (name = tempdev, filename = 'E:\Sqldata\tempdb.mdf')
    go
Alter database tempdb modify file (name = templog, filename = 'E:\Sqldata\templog.ldf')
    go
    -----------------------------------------
