Unanswered: MS Search Enginge is slowing my server
I am using Microsoft Search Engine included with MS SQL Server 2000, using the common functions: FREETEXT & CONTAINING and my clients are pleased with the service.
But I noticed that my server is starting to be slower and slower, when I disable the Search Engine utility, things run faster, and finally I dicovered that microsoft recomend 1 GB - 4 GB of RAM should be used on the server to achieve better results.
Since my RAM is only 256 MB, and my motherboard offers an upgrade of RAM up to 512 MB only, Is there any alternative configuration can be done to avoid adding RAM and produce the same results?
I don't have a million of records, I am talking about 40,000 records of data.
