    Unanswered: ora-01502

    i got this error, all ived done is a direct load, and don't know why its caused it, im gonna have to re-build the index, but i want to know how it happens and how to avoid it.

    Hi,

    I guess your index is in 'DIRECT LOAD' state (you can see in the STATUS column of DBA_INDEXES)

    This can happen if your direct load ended unexpectedly (crashed).

    Rebuilding should indeed solve it.

    ora-01502

    i just found out what caused the error above. In the log file it says
    Code:
     index was left in direct load state beacuse ora-01652-unable to extend temp segment by 256 in tablespace x
    what should i do now, since i know the error ?

    Seems like it ran out of space when rebuilding / enabling the index after the direct load. Just make sure there is enough room in the tablespace mentioned in the error, at least the size of the index.
