Unanswered: ASE 11.9.2 on RedHat 7.2 - cannot start server

I'm having some problems starting ASE 11.9.2 on new installation of RedHat 7.2. Backgound information is below.

I can't find any references to this particular problem on the web. Any helpful hints? Sorry if I've missed something obvious.

    Thanks in advance.

    - Red Hat 7.2 i386 / 512MB RAM
    - Using linux filesystem for /sybase/master.dat (not raw partition).
    - Followed installation instructions; permissions on master.dat are set per installation instructions; owned by user sybase.

    Log file:
00:00000:00000:2002/04/10 12:03:56.25 kernel dlock: '/sybase/master.dat', Resource temporarily unavailable
00:00000:00000:2002/04/10 12:03:56.25 kernel kdconfig: unable to read primary master device
00:00000:00000:2002/04/10 12:03:56.26 kernel kiconfig: read of config block failed

Typically that is a hardware or OS problem. Sybase is trying to open the file but the OS is not letting it. Search google for 'Resource temporarily unavailable' and linux. There are a number of parameters you can tune to alieviate this.

Also make sure ASE isn't already running -- otherwise it will give that error as well!
