    1) I suppose mssql means Transact-SQL (T-SQL) from MS SQL Server.

    T-SQL uses the plus sign concatenation operator (+) to do this job.

    Here the MySQL examples:

    select CONCAT('My', 'S', 'QL');
    is
    select 'My' + 'S' + 'QL'

    select CONCAT('My', NULL, 'QL');
    depends on the settings for NULL values.

    If SET CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL ON
    select 'My' + NULL + 'QL' -> NULL

    If SET CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL OFF
    select 'My' + NULL + 'QL' -> MyQL

    select CONCAT(14.3);
    means converting from numeric to string, here
    select STR(14.3, 4, 1)

    2) You find the SQL Server 2000 reference at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/techinf...2000/books.asp (download).
