    you can't but you can get around it by

    -building a table with the extra fields you want and relate the tables via a 1:1 relationship.
    -building a query with your table and the new field in it and reference.
    -adding the field to the source table and relink.

    Hi,

    Try the code below:

    Public Sub test()

    Dim dbase As DAO.Database
    Set dbase = DBEngine.Workspaces(0).OpenDatabase _
    (Mid(CurrentDb().TableDefs("tblLoggedUsers").Conne ct, _
    11), False, False, "")
    dbase.Execute "ALTER TABLE tblLoggedUsers ADD COLUMN Notes TEXT(25);"
    set dbase=nothing

    End Sub

    P.S.: Instead of tblLoggedUsers use your own linked table name. Change ALTER Table statement accordingly your needs.

    Igor
