    Client or Server DB

    All,

I am the application developer for a company that makes a network device (called box hereafter). The box currently spits out huge amounts of network statistics in real time. Now, I need to save this date in a DB and allow for nice looking reports to be created.
I'm not sure whether I should keep the DB on the box (closer to the source gathering data) or on the remote client (closer to the user manipulating the data). Any suggestions, things I should look out for. Literature? Links?
PS: Huge amounts of data means 10.000 'longs' per second.

    Thanks,
    Beginning DB-er

One of the concerns you ought to have while considering to place the DB on the box are the chances of the box's security being "compromised".
