I installed Visual Studio.NET, which installs a setup directory for MSDE 2.0 on the C: drive. When I ran the setup for MSDE, an instance of SQL Server was created using sqlRun01.msi with Service Pack 1 added automatically.

I want to update to Service Pack 2, which I downloaded from Microsoft. However, when I run the setup for sp2, I receive the known error, "Unable to run script files." (or something similar to that). There is a knowledge base article about this problem occurring when sp1 is installed and a change is made to the MSDE setup configuration.

Does anyone know of a way to install MSDE without allowing the Service Pack to install automatically? That way I could install sp2 manually myself.

Or, where can I download the MSDE setup files with sp2?

Thanks for your help.
