Question Unanswered: convert a sql sever7 table to Oracle table

    Hello there,

Does anyone know how to convert a big sql server 7.0 table to an Oracle 7.3 table? I was thinking to import the sql server table to Oracle and then massage the table inside the Oracle.

Please advise and any help you may provide would be highle appreciated!

    Two options are:

    - unload the data to a csv-file and then use sqlloader to load into Oracle

    - use MS Acces with two linked tables, one for the SQLServer side, one for the Oracle side

The first options to me seems the best one.

    Good luck.

PS Why do you want to load it into Oracle 7.3. That version has been obsolete for several years. I suggest you at least should go to 8i or even consider 9i. 9i even has options to access a datafile as a table!

Thanks very much BSchol! I am working for a client and they have Oracle 7.3 as their db. That's why.

    Thanks again!

I assume you can have a linked server to Oracle from SQL Server, and then do a direct insert into.., also.

    Good luck.
