Question Unanswered: Linking XP to 97

    hello all
I'm updating a database written in Access 97, to Access XP
I thought I'd start with converting the frontend into XP (the backend may end up in SQL Server)

However, I'm striking a problem with tables I link from the new XP frontend to the old Acc 97 backend...some of the fields do not survive the linking process...ie, the tables appear, but some fields have disappeared, along with all the data.

If I check back in Access 97, the fields are still there.

Is it a data type problem?

    Thanks in advance!
    Cals

Have you tried creating a new Back End XP database and then importing the tables there? Then linking with your new Front End Client.

Yeah, it's looking like I'll hafta go down that path...
I was kinda hoping that the old AC97 backends would work with the new frontends...then I wouldn't have to change them twice (from 97 to XP,then from XP to SQL Server)
