    Unanswered: Setting LOCAL SID

    Hi all,

another question for all of you. with oracle 8.0.5 you could set a LOCAL (ie default) SID in the registry by adding a string variable caled LOCAL under HKLM\software\Oracle. This enables you to connect to the default SID by default. Is there a similar mechanism for 9i?

    Thanks in advance

Ok all, thanks for all the replies! It functions in the same way as 8.0.5, place a sting value called LOCAL in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle and give it the value of the desired default SID

    Cool

    Yes,

Use: C:>set oracle_sid=<SID> . That will setup the default SID in your environment.

    Hope that helps,
