I have a WinNT 4.0 and a Win2000 on different domains, and a Server 7.0 on each. I want to reach them from each other using SQL authectication. I can add both as a Linked server to the other with Enterprise Manager, and I can connect to one of them from the other with the Query Analyser. But connecing fails in the other direction, saying: "[ODBC SQL Server Driver]Client unable to establish connection". Why?
Domains here are used mainly for security reasons, so their knowledge about each other is rather restricted, and no any further access is allowed to be added.
Is there any other right which is needed to connect an SQL server beside its pure userid/password using SQL authectication? Does/Should Windows under it know about the connection?
