    Unanswered: why oracle server cann't start?

    Hi:

    My OS is Windows2000,Oracle server is Enterprise 8.1.7 .But I download the "oracle 9i developer for windows" from http://www.otn.com .Fristly the "setup.exe" cann't run ,it gives the message"cann't support NT",then i go into one directory about"win32",
    a "setup.exe" can run ,after then ,my oracle server cann't start with the
    error"޷λkpcddtasgڶ̬ӿoraco mmon8.dllϡ

    I have no methods.Please help me. Thanks!

    Hi,

    You can start the oracle server using the services panel in
    control panel.
    U need to have the server running while you install the developer.

    I need your more help about "why oracle server cann't start?"

    Fristly, i appreciate your help.

    And i am sorry that i have mistake on describing the problem.I talk it to you again.


    my oracle server release is 8.1.6 (enterprise) ,OS is windows2000 ,
    I download oracle9i developer on http://www.otn.com ,my oracle server is not in running while i install the developer tool,at the time ,the install program show messages " the program detect that the oracle home is exist and not support for NT",and installer cann't go on , then i open other directory ,i try to run all setup.exe program included,there is on can run, the installer show the messages" uninstall a few module and install some other moduele " ,I think that it's opertion is updating .


    However, i start my oracle server from control pannel ,it give error
    "can not find 'oracommon8.dll' in e:\oracle\ora81\bin ",then i copy one from another computer into the directory ,but it also give message "'oracle.exe ' can not find the access ,can not position program access 'kpcddtasg' in 'oracommon8.dll' ",the listener server can start .

    Please help me !!!

    Cool

    Are you trying to install 9i developer in the same oracle_home as 816? if so that is not the right way of doing it. You have to use different home.

    Most probably the 9i installation is overwritting some 816 oracle_home files.
