Unanswered: Restore Database on the Network
I have a test server and a production Server on two seperate NT box.The production box is taking the database dump everynight and I'm planning to Restore the same dump on test, the very next day.
My question is:
Can I restore the database on the test over the Network?I mean using the actual path for the Dump which will be "\\production server\e$\dump". I know it's possible in Sql Server.
I don't think you'll have any problem. We do the same thing on our Unix boxes with an NFS share.
Gives me Volume Validation Error
It always gives me the Volume Validation Errror.
The error is:
Failed to obtain device information, device :\\Production Servername\SHARED\Dumps\Datadump : No Such file or Directory.
Any help is greatly appriciated
I don't work with NT that much (usually Unix). I'd try using a mapped drive letter instead of the whole server path. That "might" work better.
