    Unhappy Unanswered: Oracle7 ORA-01632 Does'n work changing extents !

    Hi DBAs,

    I've fot stange error.

    With Oracle7 it give the error ORA-01632. According to docs, this is about exetent size.

    So I change the extent size and made the number of extents to unlimited.

    But still no result and it gives the same error.

    Can someone help.

    Hello,

    Could you please tell me what exactly you did ? Have you increased the maxextents parameter for the table and also for the index of the table for which you are facing this error.
    Also you can try something else like,
    Just export the table along with its indexes which is giving this problem. Drop the table. Import the table & data from the dump.

    This oracle error happens when an index reaches it's maxextents.

    I recommend this:

    alter index <name> rebuild storage (initial 1M next 5M maxextents 200 pctincrease 0)

    Of course you should fill in values for the storage that are big enough for the index. It depends on how big the index is now and how much it will grow.
