    Unanswered: Access query

I am trying to insert a record into an Access database.

In a table called "schedule" I have a field called "user" which is an integer corresponding to an index of another table called "users". The primary index of the table "users" is this integer and also has another text field called "name". I would like to be able to execute an INSERT statement on the "schedule" table and instead of passing an integer into the "user" field, insert a name from the "user" table and have Access look up the corresponding ID integer. (Hope that makes sense)

How can I do this? Through some type of JOIN statement?

Place your User table in the query grid. Join the UserID from your other table to the User table. Insert the User Name from User table into the query and replace the User from the originating table.
