    Unanswered: validation rule property

I am using the Expression Builder to verify the value entered in my textbox is not a duplicate in my query. In the Validation Rule property of the textbox, I have the expression:[class]<>[qryclassLookup]![class].

The error message -"The expression[qryclassLookup] you entered in the form control's Validation Rule property contains the error The Object doesn't contain the Automation object 'qryclassLookup'"

[class] is the input textbox in my form
[qryclassLookup] is the query where the data being written.
[qryclassLookup]![class] is the field in my query that I would like to verify with.

    Please advice.

Just a thought. Try the validation against the query at table level, it is unusual but can be done.

    Validation Rule

    Good morning:

Could you explain a little on how to validation against the query at table level?
The user is entering Part Type in a textbox in the form. I would like the data entered in the textbox being check for duplicates in the Lookup table when he clicks on the Enter button. And if it is a duplicate Type entered, the aa message will display.

Could you give me some assistance?
    Thanks!

Before we go into validating by qry a table.

You stated in your last post something about filing the text box with another value. Please state exactly what you are trying to achieve.
