Post Unanswered: long to varchar in oracle

    Hi,
I have a table A which has a t1 column and it is defined as long datatype
I have a table B which has a t2 column and it is defined as varchar datatype.
I am trying to insert into table B into t2 column the contents of t1column from table A

    How do I accomplish this.

Can some give a example using trigger.

    Thanks

    Cool

You have to use PL/SQL packages. Write a stored procedure to fetch the LONG to VARCHAR2 and then execute it in the trigger.

Examples and ready scripts are posted Here

    Hope that helps,
